About Us
Our practice is dedicated to thoughtful, individualized acupuncture care grounded in clinical experience, careful assessment, and continuity of treatment. Every patient receives a comprehensive evaluation and treatment plan designed to address both immediate symptoms and the underlying patterns contributing to health concerns.
Care is guided by a cohesive clinical approach that emphasizes consistency, communication, and long-term patient outcomes. Initial evaluations and periodic reassessments are performed by the lead practitioner to ensure that each treatment plan remains focused, responsive, and aligned with the patient's progress over time.
As the practice grows, patients may also be treated by carefully selected associate practitioners who are trained in the same treatment philosophy and clinical methods used throughout the practice. This collaborative model allows patients to maintain treatment consistency and scheduling availability while benefiting from coordinated, patient-centered care.
The goal of the practice is not simply to provide individual treatments, but to create a structured and supportive healing process in which patients feel heard, understood, and confidently guided throughout their care.
Heather
Heather is a licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist with more than 25 years of clinical experience specializing in integrative pain management, rehabilitation support, and evidence-informed Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her work focuses on bridging the strengths of classical East Asian medicine with modern biomedical understanding to provide patients with thoughtful, individualized care grounded in both tradition and research.
Throughout her career, she has worked in private practice, hospital-based settings, and multidisciplinary medical environments. She currently has a part-time appointment at Michigan-Medicine Anesthesiology Back & Pain, where she collaborates within a medical framework supporting patients with chronic pain, musculoskeletal conditions, post-surgical recovery, and complex health presentations.
She previously participated in NIH-funded acupuncture research through Michigan Medicine's Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Center and served as a co-author on the manuscript:
"Greater Somatosensory Afference with Acupuncture Increases Primary Somatosensory Connectivity and Alleviates Fibromyalgia Pain via Insular GABA."
Heather's clinical approach continues to evolve alongside emerging research in neuroscience, pain modulation, connective tissue physiology, autonomic regulation, and integrative medicine. She incorporates contemporary evidence-based protocols while maintaining the depth and diagnostic framework of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This combination allows for a treatment approach that is both medically informed and highly individualized.
