Microneedling- collagen induction therapy

Person receiving microneedling on the face

Microneedling

There are several contraindications in which microneedling may not be right for you. Prior to scheduling your first session, you must book a free consultation or text me directly at (734)-288-8063. Be prepared to send a picture via text or email of the area you would like to treat. Once you are deemed a good candidate for MN, you can schedule your first visit during that same phone call.

Microneedling (MN) is also known as collagen induction therapy (CIT). A  machine is used to create thousands of micro channels in the skin at a specific depth that triggers your body to produce additional collagen and elastin, thus plumping up the skin and minimizing fine lines, wrinkles, scars and sun spots.  Your practitioner will select the specific machine, needle head, depth of penetration and serum to use based on your specific cosmetic concern and your skin type. The benefit of MN is that it covers more surface area than with Cosmetic Acupuncture. The products or serums used are introduced deep into the channels to promote skin repair. The results from MN are more dramatic and noticeable in a shorter period of time when compared to CA.  Numbing cream is applied to the area being treated and Acupuncture points used for mild anesthesia are administered in the ears to make the procedure more comfortable. There are restrictions on what you can apply to your skin before and especially after a MN treatment. An aftercare sheet will be supplied via email and will need to be signed by the recipient prior to treatment. A full acupuncture session is NOT included during MN.

Cosmetic Acupuncture (CA) is a traditional acupuncture treatment plus a cosmetic treatment whereby acupuncture needles are used on the face & body to treat fine lines and promote lifting. CA is very gentle and subtle. Most patients feel very comfortable and are able to rest or sleep during the session. A full health history is taken and you are invited to receive treatment for an additional health concern along with the cosmetic work during the same visit. For example: forehead lines plus PMS.

What Are the Key Benefits of Microneedling?

One of the biggest benefits of Microneedling is that there is little to no downtime. You will likely experience some redness of the skin shortly after treatment but this will mostly dissipate within 24-48 hours. The microscopic holes made in the skin heal up quickly and the skin begins to rejuvenate at a deeper level within days of treatment. The most noticeable changes take place one month after your session. At that time, you are eligible to receive the next MN session.

How often do I get Microneedling?

Typically, patients do one MN per month for 3-6 months. For deeper scarring, it may be necessary to do additional visits. Once you’ve achieved your body’s optimal results, we recommend maintenance visits 1-2 times per year. Between MN visits, it is strongly recommended to come in for Nano Needling with customized serums at least once per month.

What is Nano Needling?

Nano Needling is a cosmetic treatment whereby a MN machine is used with a very small needle head. The sensation is not sharp or painful at all. The machine stamps healing serums, specific to your skin concerns, into the surface layer of the skin. No numbing cream is applied. It is safe and effective to treat around the eyes for puffiness and fine lines and on the lips to plump them. There is no down time. The treatment is quick and painless. You may use good quality face products and make-up following this treatment. This is an ideal refresher for in between your yearly MN sessions, before an event, or anytime you want to freshen up your face.
